Argh.

I am at that point in stress where I am fucking exhausted down to my bones yet my mind just won't stop racing.

Monday is a holiday and I go to a day long in-service on Tuesday. Friday is just one day. I can do just one more day. Really. I can. I think.

So, did you make it? Don't leave us hanging. You have an international public to keep satisfied.

Barely!

I team teach, and the other teacher was out. So there was a sub. I've worked with this sub before, and I'm not very fond of her. She has had 30 years of teaching experience and is really pleased to tell me that over and over, while she criticizes me. She's fairly authoritarian and the way that she gets onto some of the kids is completely disruptive to the kind of classroom culture I'm attempting to build.

Gripe, gripe, gripe!

Actually, that sounds like a good combination. The kids will learn a lot from contrasting the two of you. You won't get the classroom environment that you want, exactly, but you could end up with a better effect. Or not. It's easy for me to say positive things from a distance.

I've tried to be positive about it, but I decided I'm done with that. The combination of self-aggrandizement along with the way she treats the students makes me not want to work with her. She hauled one girl out in the hallway to humiliate the girl for having an "attitude." I remember being the same age as that girl and being frustrated and genuinely puzzled about what exactly that meant, to have an attitude. It seemed like the most nebulous offense, where anything you did or said was interpreted as attitude. But then the teacher behaves in such a way as to escalate something she started to begin with.
